Did you know that Córdoba was one of the most important cities in the Jewish Sefarad (Jewish Spain)? The Jewish communities in Córdoba coexisted alongside many different peoples, over which time they built up a huge compendium of knowledge in medicine, science, astronomy and literature.

Find out about Moses Ben Maimon, or Maimonides, the Sephardic Jewish philosopher from Córdoba, the greatest Jewish figure from al-Andalus. Walk along the street Calle Judíos towards the synagogue, the only surviving one in Andalusia dating from the Middle Ages, and discover its traditions, way of life and culture. You’ll be surprised to learn about the legacy that still survives to this day.

Ever wondered where the Spanish phrase “me han colgado el sambenito” (in English, “They’ve discredited me”) comes from? Let me guide you and you’ll find out...
