The Pedroches pasturelands

DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN: CURED HAM FROM THE PEDROCHES VALLEY

The north of the province of Córdoba is an area of rolling pastureland and medieval castles, ideal for hiking, cycling or horseback riding.

The skies are so clear that it has been named a ‘starlight reserve’, an ideal site to watch the night sky next to an ancient hermitage or in the open fields, far from any sources of light pollution.

For these tailor-made visits, we can combine a whole range of experiences: local history, visits to the pasturelands where the pigs which produce D.O. Valle de los Pedroches Iberian ham roam free, cheese-making, Astrotourism, spas... there are even water sports in the reservoirs in the summer months.

Vineyards and countryside

DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN: MONTILLA-MORILES WINE

This tour offers you the chance to see the vineyards where the Pedro Ximénez grape is grown, the raw material of some of the best wines in Spain: the range of sherry-type wines known as amontillado, oloroso, generoso, palo cortado and dulce.

The best way to learn about the quality of the wines is to see the vineyards for yourself, and we’ll visit these, as well as the cellars where the grape juice ferments in vats, and last but not least, you’ll be able to taste the wines and fully appreciate their aroma, texture and flavour.

The surrounding countryside is known as the Campiña Sur, and here you can combine the wine-making experience with guided visits to local towns or horseback riding through olive groves.

La Subbética range in Córdoba: the route of white villages and olive oil

The southern area of the province of Córdoba is a mountainous area, mostly contained in the Subbética natural park. Most of its towns perch high in the mountains, and with their whitewashed houses and narrow, winding streets, are among the most picturesque towns in Spain.

The olive oil from the D.O. Priego de Córdoba has been recognized over recent years as one of the best in the world. Learn about the olive harvesting process, how the oil is extracted and, of course, learn, at an olive oil tasting, to distinguish between the different types of olive oil and appreciate the flavours and aromas that won them this accolade.

We can plan your trip to combine a wide variety of visits and experiences: oil tastings, hiking and cycling tours on the ‘green route’ of olive oil production centres, guided tours of the white villages of the Subbética, artisan cheese-making, water sports on the reservoir...
